Fort William Highland Cycling
This can be a wonderful long distance hiking and cycling* path from Milngavie, north of Glasgow, to Fort William inside Scottish Highlands. There is spectacular scenery to take pleasure from with Lochs, hills, streams and waterfalls all dotted along the way.
The route begins simply external Glasgow at Milngavie and minds north through Mugdock Country Park before achieving Loch Lomond for which you enjoy an incredible waterside section across the shores of the loch with Ben Lomond mountain making a beautiful backdrop. You keep up through Glen Falloch and Strathfillan, driving the beautiful Falls of Falloch, Loch Tulla and crossing Rannoch Moor. The path then goes through the stunning Glencoe, climbing the Devil’s Staircase, before crossing the River Leven on head of Loch Leven. The ultimate part goes past Lairigmor and Glen Nevis and finishes at Gordon Square in Fort William.
The path is really signposted throughout.
*For cyclists please know that while a lot of the course produces fantastic biking some sections are really difficult and are usually only appropriate skilled hill riders. Even then you will must carry your bike over certain sections. Just see this conversation thread for information.
